
The Supreme Court on Tuesday (April 1) will hear a plea challenging the validity of a provision of the Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act, 1991, which preserves the character of religious places as they existed on August 15, 1947.

With the government slated to table the revised Waqf Amendment Bill in Parliament this week, Union Minister of Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju has hit out at leaders seeking to "misguide" people and said Waqf law has been existence for decades.
